[24] There Was an Old Woman
                                                    Traditional/Adapted

            There was an old woman
            Who lived in a shoe
            She had so many children
She didn’t know what to do.
She gave them some broth without any bread
And she hugged them all gently
            And sent them to bed.

            There was a young woman,
            They all called her Mom,
            She had such lively children,
            Good thing she was strong!
She took them each day for a treat at the store,
            But she firmly said, “No”
When they asked her for more.

            There once was a lady,
            They called her Miss Jane
            She had so many students,
            But she couldn’t complain.
She taught them a poem, and she sang them a song,
Then she blew them all kisses
            And sent them along.

Rocking Song: Rock with the child in your lap, on your back, or
facing you “rowboat” style. Make up your own verse about your
            family using your children’s names.
