[18] Go In and Out the Window
Traditional/Adapted
Go in and out the window,
Go in and out the window,
Go in and out the window,
As we have done before.
Go up and down the stairway,
Go up and down the stairway,
Go up and down the stairway,
As we have done before.
Go round and round the village,
Go round and round the village,
Go round and round the village,
As we have done before.
Now follow me to Belmont,
Now follow me to Belmont,
Now follow me to Belmont,
As we have done before.
Movement song: Similar to “London Bridge.” Two grownups or
children make a window-like arch by joining hands above
shoulder level; child passes under the arch for Verse 1. For the
second verse, the window-partners sit on the floor and extend
their arms close to the ground so that the child steps over them.
For Verse 3, the child circles around the partners. For the last
verse, everyone joins hands with one of the partners leading the
way around the room. This song also works well with hoops:
child first goes through the hoop; steps into hoop slightly above
floor level; walks around hoop, which is on floor; and, finally,
holding hoop with others, walks in a circle.
